Hello Everyone! Everything is good in South Africa! Sorry I didn't write on Monday! It was a little hectic.. we had a rehersal in the morning for zone conference on tuesday.. ( cause we were singing ) then we had an emergency evacuation drill.. but it was just a trial run.. but that took up our whole day so we didn't get a time to email anyone.. hence the reason why we are emailing on a Wednesday haha but anyways the past week was fine.. it definitely wasn't the best.. mostly because it the holidays and everyone hear during holidays go back home to there families of they are at work, or they are super drunk and won't even remember anything that we said IF we even spoke to them! hahaha but all good this week is going to be kind of like that as well..

We can't proselyte during Christmas Eve and Christmas day.. so I dont know what  we will do in that time.. but something good that we have is that we are getting fed like crazy! Everyone wants the Elders over during Christmas! So that's been a little stressful trying to meet everyone's needs in having us over! (but that should be fun! :)

Thanks for the money, and I got the package this past week! It was great!! I got it on Thursday!! It was very nice and I love everything that was inside it! Thank you so much for the books, treats, pins, notes, and the candy!! Thank you to all the people that put that together! Everyone got super jealous about it though cause it was so good!! Thanks again!

I cant wait for skyping on Friday! I am excited to see the family!!

Hope you guys have a great week till then! Love you lots!

Hello! Everything is great in South Africa! I am having a really fun time here in Fish Hoek with Elder Wilhelmsen! The area though is kind of struggling and we are kind of stressed about that... we know that this area has a lot potential but we are not sure what to do. We work in a township called Masiphumelele but we want to start teaching in the more stable areas. That's just been the biggest struggle now.. but its all good I know the Lord will provide a way :)

This week was very interesting! We were all over the place this week. To start we had a interesting conversation with one of the members in Sunnydale, which is the more suburbia.. but anyways,we went to go visit them and since I'm new in the area I just wanted to meet and get to know them. So the McClains ( elderly couple ) are the members we went to go see and while we were their we got to know them pretty well. But for some reason we go the subject of ancestors and witch craft and she told us that her mother was a person that talked with spirits and that she see's dead people... ( she said it just like the little kid did on the "sixth sense" ) it was a little freaky at first but we just rolled with it.. haha then we talked about her mom and how her mother was a great woman and that her mother told her that the church was good and that she need to be involved in the church. So that's kind of where we ended things which was nice cuz I just wanted to move on and leave, but they are a great family and super strong in the church. I think that they are kind of lonely because she didn't want us to leave she just wanted to keep on talking!

This week we had our ward Christmas party!! whoop whoop!! haha it was sweet! They had games and treats and of course PRESENTS!!  We did a white elephant swap.   It was cool, The presents we brought were a foam ball, a wooden dice, and two bracelets we found on the street (they were actually really nice bracelets, and everything else we found in our boarding ) but what do you expect from poor missionaries that don't have money hahaha but it was fun! :)

Then on Sunday we had a stake Christmas concert! It was an outside concert and it was beautiful! So many great singers and there was a ton of people! A lot of non members! Which was nice but we had to go there as a zone and help with parking and with the seating! It was sweet! It was a nice end to the week!

The Christmas concert was a great reminder of the self sacrifice of the Only Begotten Son of the Father, and the love that He has for all of us to give us His son to die for us!! He has given us hope when we're are in despair, forgiveness for the repentant, and joy to those seeking for the truth!

I hope we all can realize His self sacrifice for us all this Chirstmas season!! There is also this website that the church put up on why A Savior was born! It's christmas.mormon.org if you haven't seen it already, please go and watch those videos!!

I hope you all have a great rest of the week and I'm always praying for  the family!!

LOVE,

ELDER FONUA

I am doing great! I'm enjoying Elder Wilhelmsen and the district!! The area is awesome and it has so much potential! There are a couple of members that make the area great and I'm so glad for their presence!!

We have a couple of recent converts that are super strong and their testimonies have given me strength!! Elder Wilhelmsen is from Layton, Utah! He is great, and we teach very well together, he's a great missionary!!

This past week we had a Christmas braai ( BBQ ) at Brother Saul's house... he is a super rich business man with nine kids and his wife is not a member but he has a really strong spirit and loves the gospel! He is the teacher of the gospel principles class in the ward and had a braai at his house!! It was great! He also has a pool in his back yard and all the kids came and swam! Everyone had a great time!!

It is the holiday season!! oh how I miss the snow!! It's gonna be weird to have Christmas here in Africa... its getting super hot!.. like cook an egg outside HOT!! haha, but it is definitely a cool expierience at the same time as well!

It's super nice to be back in Cape Town!! The city life!! haha, but I did enjoy the simplicity of the Eastern Cape ( which is all where all the rural places are ) they were so content with what they had, and to hear of the good news of the gospel just made their joy leak out of their ears! I love the people of Illinge and will continue to love the people of Fish Hoek as much as I can!!

My goal in this area is to "kill them with kindness", then they will have no choice but to accept the gospel!! ;) hehehe

My companion and I just got our hair cuts today by some Muslims!! It is sweet!! Probably one of the best hair cuts I have gotten here!

This week we had many lessons on temples and me and my companion saw the temples in this new temple book that we've been given and we have been bearing testimony about the temple. Now that it's Christmas time I'm missing the temple and esp. the temple lights!! Oh how I miss the temple!! Please everyone, take full advantage of the temple, and the temple blessings that attending the temple can bring!

I am grateful for all your love and support for me! I cant wait to get the package! Thank you so much everyone for contributing to it! It's gonna be great!

Love you all! Have a great week!! I ALWAYS keep you all in my prayers!

Love,
ELDER FONUA
