This week has been fun! Nothing too different just a lot of building our teaching pool! We are emailing today because yesterday was a public holiday and "human rights day" it was fun. There was a couple of riots and a ton of stores were closed including the email shop that we come to! Soo.. yeah we had to wait for today to email which sucked at first but we got over it because we got to go to Jeffery's Bay! Which is like a very nice city with a well known beach and tons of cool shops! So yeah we went there for the day. It's about an hour drive, not to far but we stayed there all day it was nice. We just chilled there. :) oh something that did happen though last week while I was emailing.. the computer that I had went crazy after I emailed and my SD card was in the computer when it went crazy.. after it rebooted I tried downloading some pictures and found out that my SD card with all my pictures and a lot of the files that I had were lost!! I guess that SD card caught a virus and it deleted ALL my files.. so yeah all my pics.. gone.. and even the SD card is useless now.. its all just one big mess.. but its all good I bought a new one and I'm just going to restart with from now on.. but yeah that sucked.. haha
On the bright side we were able to give some of our investigators baptismal dates!! Zandile and Mila! They are on the date of April 23! And this week we are planning to baptize a girl named Amelia! And we are planning on give a couple of others baptismal dates as well so that should be exciting! It was funny this week as we were teaching Zandile and Mila, they invited a friend to come, Ivan.. he's a nice guy but I felt something weird with him.. and after our lesson with all three of them we asked him to join us in church.. he then started laughing and then said "sorry guys I'm a pastor of the Zion church".. then I said "Well that doesn't mean you can't come and visit, it would be great to have you.." he looked puzzled for a moment then said "maybe one day" even though it wasn't a big thing to invite him.. I felt the spirit and knew that I had done my part! Even though it wasn't a "YES! I'll come to church!" kind of thing I was still grateful for the opportunity to invite him! In missionary work.. there will always be ups and downs.. but we have to just keep on moving forward! Continuing to do all that we can to help the people we know and love! I can truly testify that God is waiting for us to do our part so that he can pour blessing upon us unceasingly! So do your part invite those that you know to hear the restored gospel! Just that simple act will bring tremendous fulfillment and peace in your lives!! The people of Zwide are awesome! Port Elizabeth is just awesome! It's like a good medium from city life and township! The people are humble to hear us but we are still in civilization not like Illinge or places like that.. hahaha, so I'm enjoying it very much! We will see if I'll be enjoying it much longer cause we get transfer news this week! It's exciting the transfers are getting faster and faster! Man its like I just got here and there is a chance that I'll be leaving its crazy!! But I'm loving it here.. this week will be a little interesting though cause our branch went on there first ever branch temple trip so there is few members here this week..so yeah but I'm very much excited for them and wish I was with them! :) The weather in P.E is hot and bipolar.. It rains one moment then goes straight to blazing heat, then the wind picks up and could probably blow some cars over sometimes! haha But its great its getting colder which is nice right about this time of year! I miss Vinni a lot! It sounds like he has grown a lot! I know I that I didn't email him a lot when I was home and he was on missoin.. but if you could please express to him my love and that I would be grateful to hear from him please! I am so glad to hear that he came over to visit you guys! The mission goes by so fast! I hope you all have a great! I love and appreciate all that you've all done for me! love your, ELDER FONUA This week has been great! Lots of exciting thing this week! Mostly for the ward but I feel like we had a very productive week! We were just able to find a lot of new people this week and got to meet some super awesome people that I feel like are truly interested into the gospel. We've been really needing a new teaching pool! We actually had to call one of the Elders that was serving here before we were to get a better understanding of who they were teaching and to see who they were focusing on.. It helped a lot and gave us a new perspective on the area. After we did that it seemed like the Lord was waiting for us to forget about the things we cant control and to see the big picture, and once we found that, the area and the people started to pick up and we started finding success! What a blessing the Lord has poured on us to be trusting us with so many people to teach and talk to!!
Me and my companion are doing well.. we still don't know who is leaving and who is staying but I think we've come to trust in the Lord and his ways! :) The ward is also going on a temple trip this weekend which is sweet! We were actually suppose to have a baptism yesterday but the stake had an activity that day and then the ward is going to the temple this week so we had to push it back till next week.. which was hard cause the person we are going to be baptizing has been waiting and has pushed her baptismal date back a lot of times! And when we told her the news that she'll have to be waiting a little longer.. I was scared that she would be very disappointed.. but she wasn't.. she expressed to us that she trusted in the Lord and his timing and that she would wait however long.. what a strong testimony that I almost cried! I was truly humbled to see her so patient and I thought if I was ever that patient.. and that I could always be better with that trusting the Lord and HIS timing! I love this gospel and the simple but powerful experiences and principles that I learn everyday! :) Please tell Vin that I miss and love him! It is great that he's home now! I can tell he was a great missionary!! I hope you all have a great week!! Love you much! Love, ELDER FONUA This week has been great! Zwide is amazing! It's not a ward yet it's still a branch! But trust me when I say that they are POWERFUL! Super strong members and they are super close to becoming a ward!
They might not have a building for awhile but that is such a small thing them.. they just love the gospel and are grateful for whatever The Lord will bless them with at the time. This week has definitely been better than last week! We are learning the area pretty fast thanks to the tender mercies of The Lord! As for my companion, he is doing well I think we have a better relationship now because of the situation we are in and because we already know each others strength and weaknesses. So its been nice! We actually have all of Zwide.. (I didn't even know there was a number system to Zwide hahaha but yeah we probably have all of Zwide) then.. but our areas super huge so i wouldnt doubt we have it all. but im loving it here in P.E its great to be back in the eastern cape :) but this week we had a busy weekend! we first had zone conference on Friday. which was amazing we were able to watch the worldwide missionary broadcast and was able to talk about it throughout the day. it was very spiritually uplifting and the most amazing thing that i was able to learn was that as every speaker went up they started with "fellow servants" it was sweet to here the apostles say these words it showed there humility and dedication to serving the lord. we are all servants of the lord and should continue to call upon the good Shepard for all our needs cause he is always there for us! and then saturday and sunday was stake conference! that was great as well. i always feel that the talks are inspired! they bring so much power and force to my heart that i can only imagine how the people of the stake are feeling as they speak. its amazing! but this week while we were looking for someone to teach we thought of a former investigator that we remembered on a list that we had and decided to go and try to meet with him.. when we found his house and looked for him we found out he wasnt home at the moment but there was a lady who was working for the family to take care of the father and watching over him. as we explained that we were missionaries she got excited and wanted us to pray for her.. so we decided to share something as well. we introduced the book of Mormon to her and testified of its divinity and power to feel closer to god. as we closed the lesson i felt impressed to ask her what she was feeling.. she explained that she didint understand what was growing in her heart but she said it felt right to her! as she said this i felt the spirit soften hers and mine and i was able to testify that that was the holy ghost she was feeling and she could continue to feel that way as she read the book of Mormon! this experience has caused me to reflect on the great gift that has been given to me and every member who has entered into a covenant with our father in heaven and has received the holy ghost! sometimes as members of the church we forget about the holy ghost and the critical role it plays in our lives. growing up in the church i know ive felt the holy ghost in my life many times but like this lady i couldn't identify it, but i knew it felt right! may we always remember how the spirit feels and guilds us in every choice that we make! may we always recognize the great beauty and peace that it brings to our souls as we live and learn the gospel! love you mom! hope you have a great week!
