This week has been great.. super fast but good.. last week I told everyone that I was leaving cause that was the more likely thing to happen.. but nope.. I guess I'm staying another transfer and my comp is leaving!
I'm getting a pretty young Elder named Elder Canfield.. he's only been on mission for a couple of months and I've never met him but I bet everything's going to be fine. It's sad to see Elder Bowers go though! He's been a great companion and friend to me and he will do great in his new area!
Something though that I've learned this week was while we were at the funeral and with a couple of other experiences we had last week. So at the funeral, after everything was said and done, (even though it was super long) the members that were in the family were talking to us and poured out their hearts in gratitude for us showing support and being there for them!
This also has been happening with some other people we are teaching and some less actives.. but even though every day brings a new challenge and sometimes I feel like I've fallen short, I've learned that it's in the small things that matter most! Just asking how someone is doing or how they have been.. or even just being that person that will listen to them.. has brought me great joy this week! :)
One of the young men gave a powerful talk on service on Sunday and he said something that has stuck with me since.. "true happiness is found as we labor for the happiness of others" and I absolutely love that quote! I'm finding great joy in the service of others! In seeing someone smile or just saying thanks has pierced the very center of my soul! I am eternally grateful for my Father in Heaven for allowing me to serve him and his children!!
Yesterday was +Fathers day and I want to wish dad a Happy Fathers Day! And let him know that I'm proud to be called his son! :)
Happy Fathers Day to all my uncles and grandpas who have been great examples to me!
Hope you all have a great week!
love,
ELDER FONUA
